Course participants must be over 18 years of age or accompanied by a paying adult and agreed with Serious Outdoor Skills. Course participants must have a good standard of general fitness and be aware that a survival and bushcraft course, navigation and canoe events can be both physically and mentally demanding. Serious Outdoor Skills cannot be held responsible for any losses or injury incurred as a result of failure from clients to disclosing medical conditions or issues.
Serious Outdoor Skills will make every possible effort to run the courses as scheduled. There could possibly be circumstances for example, extreme weather conditions or the minimum number of course participants required not being met, when we are forced to cancel or postpone a course. In these circumstances which are out of our control, an alternative date will be offered or the amount paid will be transferable to an alternative event. Course content may also be subject to change for the best nature of the group. This decision can be made by SOS instructors at any period before or whilst an event is in progress.
If the client cancels for any reason 70% of the course fee will be reimbursed. If the client cancels between 2 to 4 weeks prior to the course date booked then 50% of the course cost will be reimbursed. If the Client cancels in the last 2 weeks before the course commences then 100% of the course cost will be forfeited.
If a client books onto a course within 2 weeks of the course start date, they will have a 24 hour cancellation period after which the course fee will be non refundable.
The client acknowledges that such cancellation charges are reasonable due the need of Serious Outdoor Skills to make substantial changes and or preparations to forthcoming courses.
Due to the costs of advanced booking of accommodation and activities for our oversees courses, if the client cancels for any reason up to 6 months before the start date of the course 50% of the course fee will be forfeited. If the client cancels between 6 months and 3 months prior to the course date booked 75% of the course cost will be forfeited. If the client cancels in the last three months before the course commences then 100% of the course cost will be forfeit.
The client acknowledges that such cancellation charges are reasonable due the costs already incurred by Serious Outdoor Skills and the unlikeliness of a replacement client booking at such short notice.
All refunds will be subject to a £20 administration fee. Courses purchased to the value of £45 and under will incur a £5 administration fee.
Any purchases made through PayPal or Stripe will have the relevant site fee deducted from the refund amount.
All deposits for course bookings are non refundable after 24-hours from the time of purchase.
Gift Vouchers are valid for one year from the date of purchase. After this date the voucher(s) will not be redeemable.
If the client wishes a refund for any reason up to 24 hours after the time of purchase the full amount will be reimbursed. If the client requests a refund after the 24 hour refund period the value of the Serious Outdoor Skills gift voucher(s) will be non-refundable.
The client acknowledges this upon purchase of any Serious Outdoor Skills gift voucher(s).
If there are any problem with your item(s) that relate to a manufacturing fault, Serious Outdoor Skills will replace the damaged or defective item(s). If there are no replacements available Serious Outdoor Skills will offer a full refund of the cost of the item(s) excluding postage and packaging cost. (Please refer to course terms and conditions below for complaints). This does not affect your statutory rights.
If for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase, Serious Outdoor Skills will fully refund the purchase value of any item within 7 days of receipt of the order. Items must be returned free from damage, unused and be within its original packaging. We would also recommend taking insurance when returning goods as Serious Outdoor Skills cannot be held responsible for goods damaged or lost in transit.
Items are normally dispatched within 48 hours and we will try and dispatch immediately within working hours (9.00am till 5.00PM) Monday to Friday by second class mail. All items ordered will be posted to the address requested at the time of order, and cannot be changed therefore afterwards.
Serious Outdoor Skills has £5,000,000 of Public Liability Insurance and £100,000 errors and omissions insurance with a reputable Outdoors Activities insurer; a copy of the Insurance Certificate details can be provided on request if needed. The courses take place in a varied environment, and the client acknowledges that these environments are never completely hazard or risk free. While Serious Outdoor Skills makes every effort to minimise risks, we will not be held liable for accidents, mishaps or losses that are not a result of negligence on the part of Serious Outdoor Skills, or for any accidents or losses which are due to client’s failure to follow the instructions of the instructors. Serious Outdoor Skills cannot be held responsible for any losses or damage to clients’ personal belongings, clothing, money or vehicles. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that they arrive at the designated meeting point in a timely manner in order to be able to join the course. Serious Outdoor Skills will not be responsible for any accidents or mishaps occurring to third parties taught by attendees of any Serious Outdoor Skills course.
The customer agrees that any photographs or photography taken by the instructors during the course may be used by Serious Outdoor Skills in promotional material or advertising either printed or on the internet.
We advise that in the unlikely event that any complaints or issues should arise they should be directed in the first instance to the instructors during that particular course, so that the issue(s) can be resolved at the present time. Any complaints that arise after the end of the course must be put in writing to Serious Outdoor Skills within 28 days of the end of the course that you attended. Serious Outdoor Skills will not be liable for any complaints received after this time period.
