Land of the Midnight Sun – A Swedish Survival Adventure
Land of the Midnight Sun – A Swedish Survival Adventure into the wilderness of the Northern Boreal Forest.
We are delighted to offer this new adventure into pristine wilderness. This event will take place near Jukkasjarvi in Northern Sweden. Jukkasjarvi is situated approximately 145 kilometres above the Arctic Circle. This means when we visit we will be experiencing 24 hours of day light. The area is made up from a vast landscape of beautiful forest and a network of rivers and lakes.
In the area there is a vast range of wildlife including moose, bear, reindeer, wolverine and much more. We will be taking the opportunity to observe this amazing wildlife and practice tracking skills. We will also cover all of the essential safety skills associated with remote travel and expedition trips.
Our cabin is situated near Jukkasjarvi on the lakeside. The cabin will comfortably sleep 5 people but most will opt to sleep outside at this time of year as the scenery is stunning. There is basic facilities on site such as an eco toilet, basic portable camp shower and cooking stove in the cabin.
Land of the Midnight Sun – A Swedish Survival Adventure will likely be a trip that you will talk about for many, many years!

Today will be all about tracking skills. We will cover all of the essential skills involved with wildlife tracking including the following:
- Training the eye
- Use of sit spots and observation
- Tracking history and uses of tracking
- Tracking terminology
- Tracking tools and kits
- Movement whilst tracking
- Action indicators and sign
- Track identification
- Step tracking and analysis
Once these essentials have been covered we will then spend more time looking at the more advanced aspects of tracking skills. The evening will be spent at our cabin, enjoying an evening meal and getting some rest before the next day’s adventure begins.
Today we will set off into the wilderness and begin to put our newly founded skills to practice spending the night wild camping in the Northern Boreal Forest. We will hike to an area with a good observation point and make camp where we can then begin to observe the wildlife.
We will continue on our adventure in the Boreal forest, at the end of this day we will make our way back to the cabin.
Today we can spend the day at the lakeside near our cabin and try our luck at fishing. The waters nearby hold wild trout and pike and can offer great results if your skill and patience is up to it. Later in the day you will be invited to take part in a relaxed wood carving session at the lakeside. This will be the perfect opportunity to carve a permanent reminder of your week in the Boreal Forest.
Today will be yours to do with what you wish. You could progress your skills, fish, visit the town of Jukkasjarvi or Kiruna, sight see or just relax. In the evening we will have a final evening meal together, hopefully a BBQ if the weather permits.
Today we will leave the beautiful North of Sweden and make our way back home, hopefully leaving with some amazing memories and new skills.
