10 years of Survival and Bushcraft courses in the UK

Wow that went quick. It has now passed 10 years since SOS has been running Survival Bushcraft and Wilderness Skills courses and events. I recently had a reminder from viewing a few old photos that it’s been a decade since I started the dream of setting up my own outdoor business. All of a sudden 10 years has passed.

Looking back on old photos of the start of this journey was a great way to help me remember some of the finer detail about the early years. In the beginning it was just me, running around doing everything on my own and not having a minute for a break whilst running events.¬† I can’t remember the exact date but my first team mate to join me was Simon Walker. Not long after, Steve Clark started attending several of our events. After discussion he ended up helping out and joining the growing team.

Daniel Dooney was next and then Xander Green. With more people involved in SOS we were now able to offer more outdoor events and bushcraft courses it also gave us time of our own to develop and continue learning ourselves. The team progressed through several awards from canoe leader to NNAS provider and many more in between.

Now, at the end of the 2021 season it’s both surprising and rewarding to look back and see what we have built and created as a team over the years. Serious Outdoor Skills are now offering and ¬†leading events that I used to dream of attending such as our Arctic survival courses in Sweden.

We have almost finished adding our 2022 dates to the calendar for next year’s season and we are excited about delivering them. We will have all of our old favourites such as our Survival bushcraft and wilderness skills weekend and our family bushcraft courses and many exciting new adventures to share with you all.

SOS would like to thank the thousands of customers who have joined us over the years and we look forward to sharing many adventuress with you in the future years
